R is for Readings

Hello my lovely cat people!

Now, this post isn’t what you think. This is more me providing you with another little update on my university life.

Now, in case you don’t know, for your courses at university, you get assigned specific readings that you have to do either every week or every couple of weeks, depending on what courses you do. And you have either lectures, in which something like 200+ people sit in a lecture hall at one time to listen to the course content. Or you have tutorials, where, in groups of about 25 people or so, you break down this lecture content and do most of your assessed work. And your readings would most likely be a part of your tutorial rather than your lecture classes.

Most of the time, readings are pretty boring and can get repetitive. Although if you enjoy the subject, it could be less tedious. Then your tutors would usually assess the readings in class, either by asking you a question during that time, or by making you write a response based on those readings.

So yeah, I’ve been doing a few of those lately. And they kinda suck. But you do learn a lot from them, and it’s probably the easiest to prepare for these, too. πŸ˜› So, my advice, start readings early and actually pay attention to them, because more often than not, you’re going to be asked something about them in class.

I love you all~! ❀

Q is for Questions

Hello my lovely cat people!

I have so many questions about life right now! Like, what will happen when I finish uni? Where will I get a job? Will I be in a relationship? It’s a lot to think about. πŸ˜›

But it’s too early to get myself worried and worked up over this. πŸ˜› Although it is interesting to think about.

For example, back when I was in high school still, I thought that all my friends that I had then would still be my friends now. But, of course, that wasn’t really the case. πŸ˜› People change a lot, and so do you, no matter how much people tell you otherwise. I mean, sure you might still like cartoons, video games, and comics, but you could also like going out with your friends and partying until dawn. So it’s not only you that decides to do different things. Your friends also shape you into a different person as you grow older. And you could learn a lot of things from your friends, too.

In saying that though, in high school, I would’ve never thought I would end up on the mainland studying at uni. And even back in Russia, I would’ve never guessed I’d be moving to Australia. So I guess what I’m trying to say is, don’t plan out your life too much. It’s okay to wonder about where you might be in the next, say, 5 years. But don’t actually start planning your life to the point that you set up a schedule every Sunday for the rest of your life. You need to have things that happen unexpectedly, too. Even if you plan out every single detail, there will still be some parts that you can’t prepare for. And that is completely okay. πŸ™‚

So, enjoy life as it comes at you. Every moment: good and bad (I hope you know what I mean here πŸ˜› ). Learn from them, remember them, get support from your friends and family if you need, and tackle life a little bit at a time.

I love you all~! ❀

G is for Gymnastics

Hello my lovely cat people!

I’m sick today, so I thought I would talk about one of my favourite sports in the Olympics: gymnastics! πŸ˜€

I used to always like it, for as long as I can remember. I guess being raised in Russia had something to do with it too – our country is one of the best at the sport. πŸ˜€ However, I could never get into the sport. I kept asking mum for it, but she kept saying she’ll think about it, and it just never came around to it really. :p

Although I did manage to join a few acrobatic dance classes, so that kind of combatted the lack of gym in my life. ;p

I just love watching the sport though. I have such a bid appreciation for it and I know what it takes to be an Olympic champion. I guess I’ll just be a little sad  that I couldn’t do that for myself. But, it’s okay – I’m fine with not quite being able to get a handstand right, or not being as flexible or strong as a gymnast. I’m happy being me, and that’s as good as I’ll get. πŸ™‚

Hope you enjoyed this little post. I love you all~! ❀

How To Survive Uni 101

Hello my wonderful cat people!

Today, I’ll tell you all about surviving university! This, of course, is based on my experiences, so my advice can’t be applied to everyone. But either way, I hope you find these tips useful in some way. Let me know if you like it!!!

~~~
  1. Choose a university you really want to go to and that appeals most to you: That basically sums up everything I want to say. πŸ˜› It’s about your experience, and if you have a choice in what university you’d like to study in, definitely do so! And don’t be afraid to ask your relatives/parents/friends/etc for help or advice. πŸ™‚
  2. Really think about what subjects you want to do: Now, I understand that not everyone might be able to choose the major/degree they wanted, but nonetheless, if you have a choice in anything, choose the right subjects.If you do that, you’ll be more motivated to study and do well. Also, you’d be able to connect with people easier if you’re passionate about the subject/major/degree that you’re doing.
  3. Have a planned routine!!! I admit, this isn’t the rule that I always follow, but it’s always good to have a planned schedule of some sort, whether it’s something as simple as a timetable of everything that you’re doing during the week, or an hourly schedule of all your daily chores – any kind of planning helps! And don’t leave the planning until too late, because you might forget something. If you like to get creative, you could make something like a scrapbooking diary where you can do what you want. That way, it could be more fun for you to plan things! πŸ™‚ Although in saying that, make sure that planning isn’t the only thing you do – actually do what you plan during the day/week, and tick it off as you go along. πŸ™‚
  4. Start studying for exams early: This I cannot stress enough – you’ll save yourself so much sleep and stress this way! And if you start studying early, you have a greater chance of remembering more information, as it will have time to transfer from your short-term memory to your long-term memory. Basically, it will make it easier for you to recall necessary information during your exam without having to rattle your brain during that time.
  5. Make notes and be organized! This is also super important. If your notes are organized, you’ll be able to understand the information better. It doesn’t matter how you do them – they are for you and no one else. (Unless you’re planning to give them away, which is also cool πŸ˜› ) So you can have whatever colours, acronyms, etc, as long as you understand what you’re writing about. Having organized notes will make it that much easier to study for your exams.
  6. Join plenty of clubs! If you’re not going to be staying at a residential college, this is important, as it will be much easier for you to make friends. (Especially since it’s a little difficult making friends in a lecture class that has more than 100 people at minimum) And trust me, there’s definitely no deficit of clubs at universities, no matter where you are in the world!
  7. Enjoy time with your friends, A.K.A., don’t study too hard all the time: Have fun with them! Go out, laugh, dance, drink, whatever! This is the only time in your life you can really try new things and make plenty of memories and friends. Sure, you could do all that after you finish uni, but it’s better to start early, because you never know what you might end up doing after. Basically, try not to miss fun opportunities just because you want to get “good grades”. If you plan your time, you can make time for both fun and study. πŸ™‚
  8. Finally, learn from your mistakes: If you’ve failed a class, or arrived late to a lecture, learn from everything! It will make your journey that much easier. πŸ™‚
~~~

And that’s it! Hope that helped a little. πŸ™‚ Let me know what you think!

I love you all~! ❀

The wait is over!!

Hello my lovely cat people!

I thought I should inform you all about what is happening in my university life, so here it is – I am moving to the mainland (Australia) soon to study Bachelor of Arts! I couldn’t be happier about it, since the city I will live in will be very warm πŸ™‚ I will also have a shared apartment and will start to live independently from my parents.

A few months back, I probably wouldn’t have been as happy, because I wasn’t happy with the results that I had received from my school. But, in the end, it got me into one of the best universities in the country, and I am excited to meet new people and keep learning new things.

The main thing to take away from this is that no matter how much you may think you have failed, you never know what opportunity may await you just around the corner. For those of you who are starting/continuing their last year of school – good luck!!! Work hard, and you will get to do anything you set your mind to. πŸ™‚

I love you all~! ❀

The agony of waiting

Hello my lovely cat people!

First of all, I hope you’ve all had a wonderful start to the new year.

Second of all, I have received my college results today. And whilst I may not be the happiest I could be, I’m still proud of what I’ve achieved, and what everyone else achieved in my class. πŸ™‚ in the end , what matters most is how you feel about your results. I feel like I’ve done the best that I can do, and to me, that is the most important thing.

However, I still have to wait for uni offers, which is very unfortunate :/ waiting is the worst possible thing. Worse than failing even. How do you know if you’ve failed, or if you didn’t, if you just don’t know? Here’s some of my college stuff pouring out, sorry in advance guys :p but seriously, waiting is the worst..

Whilst it may be difficult, I still like to think that I will get in and be successful in whatever I do. And I also believe that I’ve learned from my mistakes, and that, hopefully, I will not repeat the same mistakes again.

On that note, I hope school is good, for those of you who are at school right now. And for everyone else, I just simply hope that you are happy and safe πŸ™‚

Love you all~! ❀

“I AM SO OFFENDED RIGHT NOW!”

Hello my lovely cat people!

Don’t worry too much about the title, this is just the start to one of my rants πŸ˜‰

With the existence of the internet, mostΒ of us use social media at some point. And so with the rise of social media, there is a rise in people who take everything out of proportion. For example, a video about something as innocent as filming a cat falling over can be interpreted by someone as, “Oh my god, this person likes animal cruelty because they are laughing at animals falling over and hurting themselves!” Or, “This person filmed a cat falling over? What about dogs? Well, if that’s the case, they must really hate dogs!”

People love jumping to conclusions, and this is what really pisses me off and annoys me. It’s fine being a troll, because other people know theΒ trolls areΒ doing it intentionally to piss those peopleΒ off. Having a very biased opinion about something, however, can be very hard to change, and to me, it’s more annoying because people actually think they are correct. But in truth, all they are doing is having an uneducated opinion and jumping to conclusions before actually finding out the facts.

So the point of this rant is, don’t jump straight to conclusions! Do your research, find out what it is that the person might be trying to say/do/promote/enjoy/etc, and then make a decision about whether something is offensive or not. Otherwise, you’re just being an idiot. πŸ™‚
